THE ELEVATION OF LABOUR ON THE RED CARPET
Traditionally, the overall belongs to construction sites, workshops and industrial environments. Designed for function rather than status, it has long been a symbol of labour.
For the Amsterdam premiere of The Devil Wears Prada, HILLZ transformed this familiar workwear garment into a sculptural couture piece. Through reconstruction, textile manipulation and craftsmanship, the overall moved from the construction site to the red carpet without losing its identity.
This transformation reflects the core philosophy of HILLZ: exploring the tension between labour and luxury, industrial strength and artistic expression.
By elevating workwear into high fashion, HILLZ challenges traditional hierarchies and celebrates the value, craftsmanship and stories embedded within the garments that help build our world.
From workwear to sculpture. From labour to luxury.
