CONSTRUCTION 01 – Sand Vein

Sand Vein is a reflection on momentum. Inspired by the movement of sand, earth and geological pressure, the print captures the quiet force of nature that continues forward without hesitation. Layer upon layer, grain upon grain, landscapes are shaped through persistence rather than resistance.

Printed on flowing chiffon silk, the artwork combines organic textures with deep earth tones that resemble weathered surfaces, sediment deposits and natural formations carved over time. The flowing structure of the scarf contrasts with the uncompromising character of the print, creating a dialogue between movement and force.Connected to the sculptural CONSTRUCTION 01 chain system, the piece balances two opposing forces. Fluidity against structure. Nature against industry.

The chain itself is produced using an innovative manufacturing process in which upcycled workwear fibers are transformed into a fine powder and rebuilt layer by layer into a seamless structure. Through this advanced technology, industrial waste is given a new purpose, evolving into a lightweight yet powerful statement piece.

Although the chain appears massive and almost architectural in scale, its lightweight construction makes it comfortable to wear. This contradiction forms the heart of the design: a structure that visually represents weight and permanence, while physically remaining effortless and light. A functional illusion that challenges perception.

Developed as part of FUNCTIONAL DELUSION, Sand Vein draws from the belief that true force is not always visible. It reflects the mindset of pushing forward long before results appear. The conviction to keep building, creating and moving despite uncertainty.

For founder Tim van den Heuvel, sand carries a personal meaning. It represents the environment in which he grew up and the foundation from which his family’s story emerged. The movement of earth, the relocation of landscapes and the immense forces required to reshape them became a metaphor for artistic ambition itself: an internal drive that keeps moving forward, even when resistance appears immovable.

• Material description: PA12 Nylon is a strong and versatile engineering-grade polymer produced using SLS 3D printing technology. The material combines high mechanical strength with a lightweight construction and a clean, professional finish. PA12 is highly durable, impact-resistant and suitable for everyday use. Its slight flexibility helps prevent cracking and makes it more resilient than many other Nylon. The material is widely used in industrial products, medical applications and consumer goods.

Following the laser printing process, the chain undergoes a tumbling treatment to achieve a smoother texture and a refined finish. The result is a lightweight statement piece with enhanced wearing comfort and a soft feel against the skin.

• Care Instructions: Silk Scarf:  Iron on low temperature without steam, Dry clean .

To preserve the Beauty and fluidity of the delicate chiffon silk, hand wash in lukewarm water only. After cleansing, wrap the chiffon silk section in a soft towel and gently press to absorb excess water. Avoid twisting or wringing. Lay flat or hang to dry. When nearly dry, delicatly iron on a low setting to maintain a flawless finish.
